Kayla Jenerette and
Raegan Ryan combined to score 49 points and the Lady Jackets took a shooting cue from the Cedarville men to post a 75-56 win at Oakland City in a non-conference contest.
The CU women won their third straight game and their sixth in the last seven outings to improve to 14-6 overall. They snapped a seven-game winning streak for the host Oaks, 12-9.
“It took us a while to 'get off the bus,' but once we got our legs we settled down and played pretty well,” explained Head Coach
Kirk Martin. “Heidi's (Ansiel) energy was a great help and support tonight. It was also nice to knock down some threes.”
The Yellow Jacket men have been on fire as of late from three-point land - 36 made in their last two games. The Lady Jackets decided to get into the act by drilling a season-high 11 bombs and shooting 53 percent from the field overall in the second half to pull away.
CU held a 35-29 lead at the break and pushed the spread out to 16 points just six minutes into the final period. The largest difference was 73-53.
The Jackets' starting guard tandem provided the offensive spark. Jenerette flipped in six treys en route to a season-high 29 points with six assists and two steals. Ryan buried four shots from beyond the arc and netted a career-high 20 points to go along with five assists and four steals.
Taylor Vander Plas came off the bench with nine points. The Lady Jackets owned the boards, 48-39, with
Deborah Gordon and
Danielle Spiliotis pulling down nine rebounds apiece.
Lauryn Robinson grabbed eight and
Heidi Ansiel had seven.
