Lady Jackets get 20th win; 5th place at NCCAA

Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Kayla Jenerette scored 20 points and drilled a key three-pointer in the final minute to preserve a 64-56 win for the Lady Jackets against Shorter in the third place game at the NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

Cedarville, 20-10, achieved its fifth straight 20-win season and the 11th in 12 years under Head Coach Kirk Martin.

The Lady Jackets appeared to be in control from the outset. They built a 16-point lead and enjoyed a 40-26 margin by halftime.

A Raegan Ryan jumper made it 51-30 with 14:50 left. However, the Hawks charged back with a furious rally to close within 60-54 at the 2:35 mark.

Both teams missed opportunities coming down the stretch, but Jenerette didn't. Her three ball with 41 seconds remaining and the shot clock winding down all but clinched it.

"I was very pleased with our effort which resulted in a satisfying victory," said Martin. "It was important for us to end on a winning note and to finish with 20 wins.

"We're still in the process of building a strong foundation in Division II and it was very encouraging to finish with back-to-back wins in this tournament."

Jenerette finished with four three-pointers as part of her 20 points and three assists. Ryan, who was named to the all-tournament team, chipped in 10 points.
