'Repeat performance' for CU in region final

Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets shot a season-high 59 percent from the field and crushed Grace, 80-46, in the NCCAA Midwest Region championship game played in the Callan Athletic Center.

It's the second straight banner for Cedarville, 18-8 overall and winners of four straight. The Jackets advance to the NCCAA National Tournament on March 13-16 in Winona Lake, Ind. CU was the 2012 runner-up.

The hosts came out smoking against the Lancers. Cedarville hit 61.5 percent of its shots in the opening 20 minutes which ended with a Kayla Jenerette three-pointer just before the buzzer for a 39-22 advantage.

The difference was 54-30 by the first media timeout of the second period. It inflated to as much as 36 points in the final five minutes.

“I'm just really pleased with the positive steps we have taken in the past two weeks,” said Head Coach Kirk Martin. “I think we are in a great frame of mind for the G-MAC Tournament next weekend.

“We seem to have figured out our offensive struggles and we're getting solid contributions from everyone.”

Jenerette buried 8-of-10 shots and finished with 19 points and four assists. Raegan Ryan tallied 13 points with six assists while Kayla Linkous and Jenna Erwin chipped in nine points each.

Grace falls to 19-14. The Lancers will again serve as host of the NCCAA Nationals.
