Cedarville back on track with 2-1 result

DAYTON, Ohio - The Yellow Jackets outlasted Trevecca, 2-1, in a G-MAC tilt contested in brutal conditions at Wright State University.

All three goals were tallied in the opening 25 minutes in windy weather featuring snow flurries, temperatures in the mid-30's and wind chill near 20.

Nick Marculo set up Mauricio Ochoa Vazquez for his sixth goal of the season in the 14th minute.

Marculo lofted a pass from the right end line to the six-yard box where the sophomore forward headed it in.

The Trojans leveled the match just two minutes later when a giveaway in the back led to an open net from short distance.

Gui Fernandes netted the winner in the 25th finishing off a breakaway against the keeper following a threaded pass from Pedro Alvares.

Cedarville improved to 8-2-6 overall and 5-2-5 G-MAC.

Stinger Notes:
  • Cedarville and Tiffin are tied for third place in the G-MAC standings with two regular season games remaining.
  • The top four teams earn a first round home game in the conference tournament on Nov. 9.
  • CU's home turf was deemed unplayable for the second time in five days because of excessive rain.
  • The Jackets lead the all-time series vs. Trevecca, 12-1-3.
