LOUISVILLE, Ky. - WBCA Division II No. 8 Ashland used torrid shooting through the first three quarters to outscore Cedarville, 97-83, in the season opener for both schools at the Midwest Region Crossover.
The four-team event is hosted by Bellarmine University.
The Eagles shot .577 over the course of the first 30 minutes to build a 74-56 lead heading into the final frame.
Emily Chapman poured in a career-high 22 points for the Lady Jackets while
Abby Wolford netted 19.
Ashlyn Huffman contributed 16 points, four assists, and three steals.
Stinger Notes:
- Wolford upped her career point total to 987.
- It's the sixth time in the last seven years that CU has opened the schedule against Ashland.
- The Lady Jackets shot .508 from the field and converted 16-of-20 free throws.
- The Eagles controlled the boards by a 42-23 margin.
- Ashland leads the all-time series, 17-11, which began in the 1965-66 season.
- Host Bellarmine and G-MAC member Ohio Dominican are the other two schools in the Crossover.
