LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Abby Wolford scored 14 points including the 1,000th of her career to lead the Lady Jackets to a 77-64 victory at Bellarmine to close out the Midwest Region Crossover.
The senior guard, who needed 13 points to reach the plateau, became the 27th player in Cedarville women's basketball history to surpass 1,000 points.
Cedarville, 1-1, shot 50 percent from the field in the first half while building a 39-25 lead by halftime and increasing it to 19 points early in the third quarter.
The host Knights scraped back to within 59-54 with 5:33 remaining, but consecutive three-pointers by Wolford,
Isabelle Bolender,
Ashlyn Huffman, and
Paige Garr pushed the margin back out to 17.
Garr and Huffman finished with 12 points each while
Alli Roh came off the bench to add 10.
Stinger Notes:
- Huffman matched her career-high with nine assists.
- The Lady Jackets made 21-of-25 free throws and were 37-of-45 (.822) for the weekend.
- The team drilled ten three-pointers with seven different players contributing.
- Cedarville has won three-of-four meetings against Bellarmine.
