DETROIT, Mich. - Wayne State built a ten-point cushion in the fourth quarter and clipped the Lady Jackets, 75-72, in a non-conference contest to close out the 2019 portion of the schedule.
Cedarville, who enters the break at 10-3, took a three-point halftime lead and built the difference to 47-39 early in the third quarter.
The Warriors finished the period on a 25-12 run and then opened the spread to 73-63 with four minutes left. The visitors got as close as two points coming down the stretch.
Abby Wolford made four three-pointers and topped five Lady Jackets in double figures with 21 points.
Emily Chapman flipped in 16 points.
Ashlyn Huffman and
Isabelle Bolender had 11 points apiece and
Cameron Peek chipped in ten.
Stinger Notes:
- Wolford is averaging 16.8 ppg in the last four contests with ten triples.
- Chapman's 16 points is her most since pouring in 22 in the season opener vs. Ashland.
- Peek's ten points is a season-high.
- Each team made 28 fields goals and 10 free throws, but WSU hit three more three-pointers (9-6).
- Wayne State has won all three meetings between the two schools.
