CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Pedro Alvares scored early and the Yellow Jackets' defense did the rest in a 1-0 non-conference victory over Ashland.
Alvares cleaned up a loose ball in the box following a restart from
Victor Pomelli by tucking in a left-footed shot just inside the far post in the 14th minute.
After that, the two sides played on level terms. Cedarville held a slight edge in overall shots, 10-9, while both teams placed four on frame.
Carter Selvius recorded three saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets, 2-0-1. Ashland drops to 0-3.
Stinger Notes:
- A total of seven yellow cards were shown - five on Ashland and two for the Jackets.
- The visiting Eagles were whistled for the bulk of the fouls, 19-8.
- Selvius registered the ninth shutout of his career.
- The Jackets' defense has held the opposition scoreless for 228 consecutive minutes.
