COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio Dominican outlasted Cedarville, 95-92, in a G-MAC women's basketball contest that was the season opener for both teams.
The Panthers took the lead for good with 7:40 to play in a final quarter that saw the foes pour in 32 points apiece.
The margin grew to as much as 11 at the three-minute mark and the Lady Jackets could only get as close as the final score.
Ashlyn Huffman scored 22 of her team-high 28 points in the last period.
Allison Mader totaled a career-high 21 points,
Isabelle Bolender had 20, and
Paige Garr added 14.
Stinger Notes:
- Huffman was two points shy of her single-game high and now has 992 career points.
- Point guard Emily Chapman came off the bench to lead the team in rebounds (7) and assists (6) in 17 minutes of action.
- Mader's previous career-high was 10 points set four times last season.
- ODU outscored the Jackets 28-9 at the free throw line.
- Cedarville drained 11 three-pointers. They made ten or more 13 times last winter including the last four games of the year.
- The Jackets lead the all-time series, 36-29.
- The rematch in the Callan Athletic Center is scheduled for January 21.
