HIGHLIGHTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - No. 5 Malone withstood some anxious final seconds to eliminate No. 4 Cedarville, 73-71, in a G-MAC Tournament Quarterfinal played at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Yellow Jackets' season comes to a close at 18-11.
Cedarville had three attempts in the waning moments - a layup, a tip, and finally a three-pointer at the buzzer - but came up empty.
The Pioneers broke a 66-66 tie on a free throw with 4:51 left to grab the lead for good. That came after both teams had gone scoreless for nearly two and half minutes.
Kollin Van Horn led all scorers with 21 points.
Branden Maughmer tallied 17 points with six assists.
Isaiah Speelman and
Conner TenHove chipped in ten points apiece.
Stinger Notes:
- CU won both regular season meetings vs. Malone by double digit margins.
- Van Horn scored in double figures in each of the last nine games (16.3 ppg).
- TenHove ended the year by making 39 of his last 42 free throws.
- Demond Parker scored nine points in his last collegiate game.
- The Pioneers lead the all-time series, 56-46.
