CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jackets broke a scoreless duel with a pair of quick goals early in the second half and rode the wave to defeat G-MAC rival Malone, 2-0.
Marisa Hoober headed home a corner kick from
Olivia Hoffman in the 58th minute to open the scoring.
Mary Kate Wyer dribbled through traffic and finished off a low shot less than three minutes later for an insurance tally.
Jocelyn Gross made one save for Cedarville, 7-4-1 overall and 7-2 G-MAC.
The hosts dominated the shots category 16-7 overall and 7-1 on goal.
Stinger Notes:
- Hoober's goal was the first of her career covering 53 contests including 47 consecutive starts.
- Hoffman played in her first game since the 2019 season.
- The shutout was the second of the year for Gross and fifth of her career.
- The defense has seven clean sheets.
- Cedarville has beaten Malone in 11 of the past 12 confrontations.
- The Jackets lead the all-time series, 13-11-2, which began in 1997.
