FINDLAY, Ohio -
Pedro Alvares tallied early in the second overtime to finish off the Division II No. 21 Yellow Jackets' 3-2 win at Findlay in an important G-MAC contest.
Jackson Isaacs scored twice on assists from Alvares as Cedarville won for the eighth straight time to improve to 12-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 G-MAC.
The outcome sets up a key Senior Day home game with league-leading Lake Erie on Saturday.
Isaacs headed in a corner kick from Alvares in the 42nd minute, but the Oilers equalized before the second period was five minutes old.
Isaacs struck again with another header in the 74th minute off a free kick by Alvares. However, UF needed only six minutes to level the match a second time.
In the 103rd minute,
Brett Vaughn's cross from the right side bounced through traffic and found an oncoming Alvares for a tap in to the open net to end it.
Stinger Notes:
- Ironically, an Alvares header in the 69th minute beat Findlay at home, 2-1, three weeks ago.
- Cedarville is 5-0-1 in six overtime games this season.
- The defense had a string of 402 consecutive scoreless minutes halted.
- The Jackets swept both regular season games and lead the all-time series vs. UF, 13-6-2.
- Nine seniors will be recognized prior to Saturday's game against Lake Erie.
