DAYTON, Ohio - Lake Erie clinched the G-MAC regular season title with a 3-1 verdict over No. 21 Cedarville at Wright State University's Alumni Field.
The Yellow Jackets, 12-3-1 overall and 9-3-1 G-MAC, had their eight-game winning streak snapped.
The Storm struck first in the 11th minute and then made it 2-0 with less than two minutes to go before halftime.
CU got back in it on an own goal in the 57th when
Sammy Kilimann's long cross went off the leg of a defender and into the net.
The visitors got a key insurance goal in the 71st minute to account for the final.
Stinger Notes:
- Ten seniors were recognized prior to the contest.
- When the Jackets were 2-1 winners at Lake Erie on Oct. 14, the Storm were rated No. 21.
- Cedarville had a 14-game home unbeaten streak halted (13-0-1).
- The last 'home' loss also occurred at Wright State to Walsh on Oct. 26, 2019 by a 2-1 score.
- The game was moved to WSU due to recent rain creating poor field conditions on CU's home turf.
- The Jackets' 22-game unbeaten string (18-0-4) on the campus field remains in tact.
- The visiting side won the two regular season contests.
- Cedarville is 5-2-1 in the all-time series against the Storm.
- LEC earned the right to host the G-MAC Semifinals and Final on Nov. 11 and 13.
