CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
ASHLAND, Ohio -
Mackenzie Northcutt bounced in a free kick late in the game to provide No. 2 seed Cedarville a 1-0 victory against No. 6 Walsh in a G-MAC Women's Soccer Semifinals.
The Lady Jackets, 12-4-2, advance to play host and 15th-ranked Ashland in Saturday's championship tilt at 3:00 p.m. EST.
Northcutt lined up a 30-yard free kick in the 83rd minute of a contest that was played in a steady rain.
The low shot appeared to touch a Cavalier defender and bounced past the goalkeeper at the near post.
Despite the artificial surface, the weather contributed to limited offense. Both teams placed just three shots on goal apiece.
G-MAC Goalkeeper of the Year
Brooke Ackley made three saves while recording her fourth consecutive shutout.
Stinger Notes:
- The goal was Northcutt's second of the season and fifth of her career, four of which are game winners.
- Walsh attempted more shots overall, 7-5.
- The two sides combined for just four corner kicks total with CU in favor, 3-1.
- The defense has strung together 403 minutes in a row without allowing a goal.
- Cedarville is 11-10-3 all-time against the Cavaliers.
- Ashland was the only G-MAC team to solve the Jackets this fall - twice by 1-0 score lines.
