Lady Jackets zip up second place in G-MAC

HIGHLIGHTS

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Mary Kate Wyer scored the game's only goal and Brooke Ackley made two key saves in the final seconds to preserve Cedarville's 1-0 win against Ohio Dominican to end the regular season.

The Lady Jackets, 11-4-2 overall and 11-2-1 G-MAC, leapfrogged Findlay into second place in the final G-MAC standings earning a first round bye in the upcoming tournament.

Wyer's header off a corner from Aleah Martone ping ponged off the legs of two ODU defenders and into the net in the 52nd minute.

Ackley stood tall in the waning moments with two critical saves.

She stopped five shots total en route to her third straight shutout and eighth overall.

Stinger Notes:
  • Wyer's five goals ties Addie Erslan for the team lead.
  • Ackley lowered her goals against average to 0.35.
  • The defense has put together a string of 312 consecutive scoreless minutes.
  • Cedarville blanked ODU, 1-0, in both regular season meetings.
  • The Panthers still lead the all-time series, 14-5-3.
  • CU has shutout seven of the past nine opponents having allowed just two goals total.
  • The No. 2 Lady Jackets will play the winner of No. 3 Findlay and No. 6 Walsh in the G-MAC Semifinals on Nov. 11 at 7:00 p.m. EST in Ashland, Ohio.
