Hot-shooting Lakers too much for Cedarville

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Grand Valley State built a sizable advantage which was good enough to hold off Cedarville, 80-71, in a non-conference game at GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.

The Lakers, 2-0, shot a sizzling 63 percent over the first 20 minutes and started quickly in the second half for a 51-32 bulge with 16:45 remaining.

The Yellow Jackets stormed back to within 74-69 at the 1:22 mark, but the hosts were able to ice the outcome from the free throw line.

Quinton Green scored 22 points for Cedarville, 1-3, and became the 57th player in the program's history to surpass 1,000 career points.
