TIFFIN, Ohio -
Branden Maughmer's double-double propelled the Yellow Jackets to a 87-76 victory at Tiffin in the G-MAC opener for both sides.
The senior guard piled up 28 points and 10 rebounds for Cedarville, 3-3 overall.
Quinton Green scored all 16 of his points in the second half.
Isaiah Speelman netted 15 points,
Kollin Van Horn had 14, and
Conner TenHove pulled down 12 rebounds.
The visitors overcame a ten-point first-half deficit with a vengeance by using torrid shooting in the second period.
Over the final 20 minutes, the offense posted a 60 percent accuracy from the field including 5-of-8 from deep and converting 10-of-11 free throws.
Stinger Notes:
- The Yellow Jackets outscored the hosts 57-41 in the second half.
- Jayvon Maughmer handed out a team-high three assists.
- Van Horn contributed three blocked shots.
- There were four tie scores and three lead changes.
- Tiffin's largest advantage was 25-15 at the 5:20 mark of the first half.
- CU broke a 63-63 deadlock with 9:30 remaining by going on a 14-3 run.
- Cedarville holds a 41-37 edge in the series which began in the 1973-74 season.
- The Dragons come to the Callan Athletic Center on January 20.
