Panther comeback clips Cedarville

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Kentucky Wesleyan erased a 15-point deficit and made the plays down the stretch to knock off the WBCA Division II No. 17 Lady Jackets in a key G-MAC meeting in the Callan Athletic Center.

Cedarville, 17-3 overall and 17-3 G-MAC, had a chance to sew up a share of the regular season title, but suffered its first home loss instead.

The Lady Jackets led by ten at halftime and quickly inflated the bulge to 56-41 early in the third quarter.

KWC cut the difference to eight heading into the fourth period and finally regained the lead with five minutes left.

Cedarville regained control to go up, 82-79, with two minutes remaining, but the Panthers closed the deal with a 10-2 run.

Emily Chapman and Isabelle Bolender scored 19 points apiece and Ashlyn Huffman added 18.

Stinger Notes:
  • The Lady Jackets held the lead for 35-plus minutes.
  • CU made its last 14 consecutive free throws and was 15-for-16 overall.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan controlled the boards, 40-26.
  • The visiting team won both games this season and the Jackets lead the all-time series, 10-9.
