OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Lady Jackets knocked off Quincy in the season opener and then lost to Ferris State in the Blue Bridge Battle at Jack Fisher Park.
Faith Bergner and
Arica Flaugher both homered while freshman lefthander
Abbey Mayes tossed a complete game in her collegiate debut to beat Quincy, 8-5.
Bergner got CU on the board with a two-run shot in the fourth inning and Flaugher capped the scoring with a solo blast in the seventh.
Both players finished with two hits each and
Lexi Parsons doubled twice.
Ferris State took advantage of three Lady Jacket errors to score five unearned runs en route to a 7-2 decision in the second game.
Seven different Cedarville players recorded base hits including
Kaley Clark, who slugged a solo home run.
Stinger Notes:
- Mayes allowed three earned runs on six hits with two K's and a walk.
- All four pitchers who saw action are freshmen.
- Cedarville stole four bases in the two games.
- The Jackets are 5-3 all-time vs. Quincy and 0-3 against Ferris State.
