CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville scored seven times in the fifth inning and shut down Davenport, 8-0, to gain a split of a non-conference doubleheader.
The visiting Panthers held on for a 2-1 decision in the opener.
Mariah Wallace clubbed a pinch hit three-run double to cap the seven-run explosion.
McKenna Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBI and
Arica Flaugher added two hits.
Casey Bertke, 3-2, fired a four-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk for the Jackets, who improved to 8-4.
The bats went silent in the first game as CU managed just three hits. Flaugher singled home
Lauryn Leslie with the only run.
Stinger Notes:
- Bertke has yet to allow an earned run in 27 innings pitched.
- Starter Abbey Mayes struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings of the opener.
- Flaugher has hit safely in 11-of-12 games this spring.
- Cedarville has committed just one error in the last four games.
- Davenport has won three of the four meetings between the two schools.
