CEDARVILLE, Ohio - NFCA Division II No. 17 Indianapolis claimed a pair of close non-conference softball contests in the home opener for the Lady Jackets.
The Greyhounds scored two unearned runs in the second inning and held on to win the first game, 2-0.
Losing pitcher
Casey Bertke went the distance allowing just two hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.
CU's only hit was a two-out infield single by
Arica Flaugher in the seventh inning.
The Greyhounds rallied to take the nightcap 6-3 in eight innings.
Lauryn Leslie recorded two hits and two RBI for the Jackets, 3-3.
Freshmen pitchers
Adaline Ziehmer and
Abbey Mayes combined to fan nine UIndy batters.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville had not played a game on campus since hosting Hillsdale on April 27, 2019.
- Four of the Greyhounds' eight runs on the day were unearned.
- Flaugher hit safely in both games.
- Indianapolis has won all ten meetings in the series between the two schools.
