CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Arica Flaugher and
Lauryn Leslie totaled four hits each while
Kaley Clark and
Mariah Wallace both homered to power Cedarville to a non-conference sweep of Notre Dame College.
Clark's three-run homer capped off a five-run fifth inning en route to an 8-5 victory in game one.
Wallace hammered a solo shot to straight away center field. She also doubled and had two RBI.
Leslie went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Clark tallied two hits, and
Faith Bergner doubled.
Winning pitcher
Madison Olszewski, 1-0, struck out three in 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief. Starter
Abbey Mayes fanned eight in four-plus innings.
The Jackets, 5-3 overall, took the second contest 10-1 which was halted after five innings by the eight-run mercy rule.
Flaugher finished 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Leslie added two more hits including a double and two runs, and Bergner stroked a double.
Casey Bertke, 1-2, allowed just one hit with two strikeouts in four innings in the circle.
Olivia Wolffe struck out two in the final frame.
Stinger Notes:
- Carrie Jespersen stole two bases in the opener and CU totaled five on the day.
- Brooke Miller had an RBI single and sacrifice fly for another RBI in the nightcap.
- Mayes walked three times and scored twice in game two and Bella Ross singled twice.
- The Jackets totaled 21 hits in the twinbill - seven for extra bases.
- Cedarville leads the all-time series vs. Notre Dame, 15-12.
