CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Mark Rowan registered a hat trick to lead the Yellow Jackets to a convincing 6-1 decision over Malone in the final regular season home game of the spring.
Prior to the contest, Cedarville recognized its lone graduating senior -
Stephen Bailey.
Rowan muscled in his first goal in the ninth minute before finishing a lunging header in the 27th from
Eli Schmidt.
Andre Salviano ricocheted a wicked strike from 25 yards off the crossbar in the 38th minute and then his corner kick five minutes later was headed in by a Pioneer defender.
Sammy Kilimann ripped a 25-yarder from
Pedro Alvares early in the second half.
Rowan got his third goal in the 51st minute from twin brother
Ben Rowan and
Nick Marculo.
Malone converted a penalty kick ten minutes later to avert a shutout.
Stinger Notes:
- The hosts improved their record to 5-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 G-MAC.
- Jared Zacharias made three saves in the first 45 minutes between the pipes.
- Ian Keil stopped two shots in goal during the second half.
- Nine yellow cards were shown - six on to Malone and three to Cedarville.
- The hosts outshot the Pioneers 22-8 overall and 9-6 on goal.
- The opposition is 2-for-4 from the spot this spring and CU has yet to attempt a PK.
- The Jackets have played Malone more times (58) than any other opponent.
- Cedarville leads the all-time series, 39-13-6.
