OWENSBORO, Ky. -
Brandon Doehne homered and
Noah Schleinitz pitched five strong innings to guide the Yellow Jackets to a 7-5 win at league-leading Kentucky Wesleyan.
The Panthers took the first game of the G-MAC twinbill, 5-2.
The Jackets came from behind twice in the seven-inning second game. Doehne's three-run long ball knotted the score at 3-3 in the fourth.
After KWC regained the lead, 5-3, CU took over with a four-run sixth.
Jadon Ambrose singled home a run,
Payton Eeles delivered an RBI double, and
Kale Ebling followed with a two-run single for Cedarville, 14-16 overall and 11-11 G-MAC.
Schleinitz, 3-2, struck out seven through the first five innings.
Riley Landrum tossed a scoreless sixth and
Reid Hale worked the seventh for his second save.
The Jackets failed to dent the plate until the ninth inning of the opener.
Blais Hale socked a solo homer and Ebling had an RBI single.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville turned a double play to end the nightcap.
- Doehne and Blais Hale are tied for the team lead in homers with four each.
- Hale has base hits in seven straight games and in 12 of the last 13.
- Eeles has 11 multi-hit games this spring.
- The Jackets' relievers did not allow a run in 4 1/3 innings.
- CU held the second-best hitting team in the G-MAC to three hits in game two.
