CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Lady Jacket offense awoke to rout Walsh, 11-3, to gain a split in their G-MAC softball twinbill.
The Cavaliers outlasted Cedarville in ten innings to claim the opener, 4-2.
The home team exploded for 13 hits in the nightcap which was called after five innings by the eight-run mercy rule.
McKenna Smith completed a five-hit day by going 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored for the Jackets, 14-10 overall and 3-3 G-MAC.
Faith Bergner had two hits with a double and three RBI while
Arica Flaugher added two hits and three RBI.
Abbey Mayes, 3-2, tossed the first three innings to get the victory with
Adaline Ziehmer going the last two.
In the first game, Walsh got a two-run homer in the tenth inning for the win.
Seven different players had base hits for the Jackets with two coming off the bat of Smith.
Stinger Notes:
- Carrie Jespersen stole four bases on the day and is 21-for-23 overall.
- Mariah Wallace delivered a two-run single in the second game and Kylie Hertzler was 2-for-2.
- Smith is 8-for-12 at the plate in her last three games.
- Flaugher produced three RBI in a game for the fifth time this year.
- The Jackets have split seven consecutive doubleheaders having to win the nightcap in five of them.
- The Cavalier homer to win the opener was just the second time a visiting player has gone deep this spring.
- Walsh leads the all-time series between the two schools, 32-21.
