CHAMPIONSHIP INFO
FINDLAY, Ohio - No. 4 seed Tiffin scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat No. 8 Cedarville, 2-1, in the second round of the G-MAC Softball Championship at rainy Marathon Diamonds.
The Lady Jackets, 21-21, head to an elimination game on Friday at 10:00 a.m. EDT to face No. 2 Hillsdale.
Tiffin pushed the winning runs across without the benefit of a base hit.
The Dragons used a hit-by-pitch, two walks, and a throwing error on a would be force out at the plate with both runs scoring on the miscue.
Casey Bertke homered to right field in the wet conditions to break up the scoreless duel in the sixth inning. It was her second long ball of the day.
It was the only extra base hit in the contest as the two teams combined for just seven hits total.
Stinger Notes:
- Bertke and starting pitcher Adaline Ziehmer held Tiffin to three hits.
- Lexi Parsons, Bella Ross, and Mariah Wallace produced singles.
- Tiffin leads the all-time series, 39-22.
- The Jackets and Hillsdale split a regular season twinbill earlier this season at Cedarville.
