NORTH CANTON, Ohio -
Victor Pomelli's goal in the 85th minute completed the comeback for No. 5 Cedarville in a 2-1 win at No. 4 Walsh in the G-MAC Men's Soccer Quarterfinals.
The Yellow Jackets advance to take on regular season champion and No. 1 seed Tiffin in the semifinals on Thursday.
Jake Johnson penetrated the Cavalier defense to the end line and laid the ball back to Pomelli, who drilled a hard shot from 12 yards off the underside of the crossbar and in.
That came after
Alex Long leveled the match with his first career goal in the 68th minute. He one-timed a pass from
Andy Volk just inside the far post from ten yards out.
Walsh struck first with 70 seconds remaining in the first half.
Stinger Notes:
- Pomelli's goal was his second of the year and fourth of his career.
- The Yellow Jackets outshot Walsh 17-10 overall and 12-9 on goal.
- Jared Zacharias made eight saves in goal.
- The Cavaliers won the regular season meeting, 1-0, at CU on Sept. 10.
- Walsh leads the all-time series by a 27-23-6 advantage.
- Cedarville has qualified for all 11 G-MAC Tournaments and advanced to the semifinals each time.
