TIFFIN, Ohio -
Jake Johnson and
Matthew Weller tallied in the second half to rally the No. 5 Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 result at regular season champion and top seed Tiffin in the G-MAC Men's Soccer Semifinals.
Cedarville, 11-7-2, moves on to Saturday's championship game to play either No. 2 Ashland or defending champion and No. 3 Lake Erie at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
Following a scoreless first half, Tiffin scored first in the 49th minute.
The Jackets answered twice within a span of four minutes to take over the momentum.
Johnson leveled the contest in the 72nd minute from
Victor Pomelli while Weller netted the winner on assists from
Ladd-Patrick Fagerson and
Michael Payne in the 76th.
Stinger Notes:
- Goalkeeper Jared Zacharias was called upon to make five saves.
- The home team held a slim advantage in the shots column at 16-13 overall and 6-3 on goal.
- Johnson and Weller each scored their second goal of the campaign.
- Pomelli has a team-leading seven assists.
- Fagerson's assist was his first point as a Yellow Jacket.
- Tiffin had beaten the Jackets twice during the regular season - 2-0 at TU and 1-0 at CU.
- The Dragons entered the contested having posted five consecutive shutouts.
- TU leads the all-time series, 24-14-2.
- Cedarville will be playing in the G-MAC Championship Game for the sixth time.
