SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - WBCA Division II No. 10 Drury opened up a big lead and then held off the Lady Jackets, 77-60, on the first day of the Drury Thanksgiving Classic.
Lydia Sweeney poured in 22 points for Cedarville, 1-2, and
Paige Garr added 17.
The visitors faced a 40-22 halftime deficit at the O'Reilly Family Event Center, but then made a third quarter run.
After the host Panthers expanded the difference to 52-30 four minutes into the second half, Cedarville finished the quarter on a 20-9 spurt.
The Jackets scored the first basket of the fourth period to climb within 61-52 before Drury regained command.
Stinger Notes:
- Sweeney made 8-of-14 shots including 3-of-4 outside the arc and 3-of-4 at the line.
- Garr handed out a team-high three assists.
- Taylor Strock recorded two steals and Makenna Fee had two blocked shots.
- The starters scored 53 of the team's 60 points.
- It was the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the two schools.
