KISSIMMEE, Fla. - No. 8 seed Carolina surprised No. 2 Cedarville, 1-0, in the first game of pool play in the NCCAA Men's Soccer Championship at Austin-Tindall Park.
The Bruins broke through with the game's only goal in the 32nd minute.
Cedarville registered double the shots at 12-6, but attempts on goal were at a premium.
Carolina placed three shots on frame compared to just two for the Yellow Jackets.
Jared Zacharias made two saves in goal for CU, 12-9-2.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville had not been blanked in seven games - at Lake Erie on Oct. 15.
- The Jackets used 21 players in the contest.
- Game conditions were partly cloudy and 77 degrees
- CU is 14-16-5 all-time in 35 NCCAA National Tournament games.
- It was the first meeting between the two schools in any sport.
