PAINESVILLE, Ohio -
Jayvon Maughmer scored a career-high 28 points including a go ahead three-pointer in overtime to propel the Yellow Jackets to a 91-88 G-MAC victory at Lake Erie.
The 6-foot-6 junior buried his sixth three-pointer of the game with two minutes left in OT to give Cedarville a 89-88 lead.
Maughmer's field goal with 18 seconds left provided CU some cushion before the Storm misfired on a triple at the buzzer.
Jacob Drees registered a double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, 6-2 overall and 1-1 G-MAC.
Grant Whisman knocked down six three-pointers for 18 points and
Brayden Sipple added ten markers.
Stinger Notes:
- Maughmer and Whisman were both 6-for-11 from three-point territory.
- Cedarville bounced back to make a season-high 18 treys in 38 attempts (.474).
- Maughmer's short jumper with seven seconds left in regulation forced overtime.
- Drees and Chris Rogers had five assists apiece.
- Neither team held an advantage larger than seven points.
- There were 14 tie scores and 24 lead changes in the contest.
- Cedarville holds a 13-5 margin in the all-time series.
