HARROGATE, Tenn. -
Tanner Gillis tossed a complete game for his first career victory to lead Cedarville to a 3-2 win at Lincoln Memorial in the series finale.
The Railsplitters rallied to win the opener, 7-6, in 10 innings on another day when wind chills were in the 30's.
Gillis struck out six and walked two on 99 pitches in seven innings. He allowed one earned run on five hits.
The Jackets made the most of two hits and three walks while taking advantage of four LMU errors to improve to 4-3.
Payton Eeles had a base hit and scored twice while
Lucas Rotello had the other hit and run.
In the first game, Lincoln Memorial scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to tie and then won it on a two-out hit in the tenth.
Rotello drove in two runs and
Sam Punzi belted his fourth home run of the spring.
Stinger Notes:
- Rotello had hits in both games to extend his hitting streak to seven.
- Pitchers Ethan Milburn, Wyatt Fisher, and Reid Hale combined for ten strikeouts in the first game.
- Eeles was credited with three stolen bases and scored three times in the opener.
- CU had homered in every game until the 3-2 win in the nightcap.
- Jacket hurlers have fired three complete games to date after totaling three all of last season.
