CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Northwood broke open a tie game with a nine-run inning and outlasted Cedarville, 17-11, to complete a three-game non-conference sweep at Yellow Jacket Field.
The two teams combined for 28 runs, 35 hits, and 23 runners left on base in the contest that took nearly four hours to complete.
With the score deadlocked 6-6, the Timberwolves sent 12 batters to the plate in the eighth inning and plated nine runs on three hits, three walks, a fielders choice, and an error.
Blais Hale registered four hits with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
Jacob Clements tallied three hits with a run scored and two RBI.
Payton Eeles and
Lucas Rotello provided three hits, two runs, and an RBI apiece.
Bryce Hughes added two hits for the Yellow Jackets, 7-12 overall.
Stinger Notes:
- There were a total of 402 pitches thrown in the game that took 3:56 to complete.
- Twenty-five (25) runs were scored in the last four innings alone.
- Hale totaled eight hits with two doubles, a home run, and six RBI in the series.
- CU pitching struck out 25 batters over the three games.
- Northwood will join the G-MAC in the 2022-23 academic year.
