CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Ursuline pulled off an unlikely sweep of a G-MAC softball doubleheader at Cedarville.
The Arrows, who began the day with a 2-14 record, shocked one of the league's top teams by scores of 9-2 and 12-11. The second game was halted after six innings due to darkness.
Ursuline committed a whopping 11 errors in the nightcap and still pulled out a one-run victory.
Six errors in the first inning alone staked CU to a 5-0 lead. However, the visitors took over with an eight-run fourth inning and never looked back.
McKenna Smith was 3-for-3 with two steals, two runs, and two RBI.
Faith Bergner had two hits with a double with a double and two runs scored while
Casey Bertke added two hits.
The offense never got untracked in the first game. Bertke had two of the team's four hits.
Stinger Notes:
- Smith has hit safely in seven of her last eight outings.
- Bertke has nine hits in the last four games.
- Weather conditions were cloudy, windy, and 40 degrees.
- The sweep was Ursuline's first ever over the Lady Jackets and ended a 12-game losing streak at CU.
- Cedarville still leads the all-time series, 30-6.
