WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Lady Jackets hammered out 22 hits on the day and won their first two assignments in The Spring Games at DiamondPlex.
Cedarville took care of Bridgeport, 6-1, in the first game and then drilled Assumption, 11-1, in a contest called after five innings by the eight-run mercy rule.
After spotting the Knights a run in the opener, the Jackets answered with four runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth.
Casey Bertke stroked three of the team's 13 hits to go along with a solid performance in the circle. She allowed one earned run with five strikeouts and two walks.
Lexi Parsons and
Mariah Wallace had two hits apiece,
Mackenzie Russell delivered a two-run double, and
Carrie Jespersen scored twice.
Winning pitcher
Adaline Ziehmer checked Assumption on three hits in the second game with three K's. She also had two hits at the plate and scored twice.
Jespersen had a double and three RBI while
Lauryn Leslie totaled two hits, two runs, and two RBI.
Kaley Clark added two hits and three RBI, and
McKenna Smith had two runs and two RBI for Cedarville, 3-2 overall.
