Cedarville extends winning streak to six

JAN PHYL VILLAGE, Fla. - The Lady Jackets needed another walkoff plus extra innings to pick up two more victories in The Spring Games at the Auburndale Softball Complex.

Cedarville blanked Edinboro, 1-0, and then outlasted Mary in eight innings, 9-6.

The Jackets, 10-3 overall, are 9-1 in Florida with six consecutive victories.

Starting pitcher Emily Blake and winner Casey Bertke, 6-1, combined on a two-hitter in the opener.

Sophia Hevel scored the game's only run on Mackenzie Russell's one-out single in the seventh inning. Both players had two hits in the contest.

In the afternoon tilt, the Jackets withstood Mary's four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Russell and Lexi Parsons had three hits apiece, Kaley Clark and Carrie Jespersen belted home runs, and McKenna Smith spun a complete game with six strikeouts.
