CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Carrie Jespersen belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning to seal the Lady Jackets' 8-0 G-MAC win over Lake Erie.
The outcome gave Cedarville a split of the doubleheader after the Storm rallied to take the opener, 3-2, in nine innings.
Jespersen went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Jackets, 19-14 overall and 4-8 G-MAC.
The result ended an eight-game losing skid on the home turf.
Mackenzie Russell had a pair of hits including a double and two runs scored.
Kaley Clark totaled two hits and two RBI while
Faith Bergner added two hits.
Winning pitcher
McKenna Smith, 2-2, spun a five-hitter with two strikeouts.
In the first game, LEC scored twice in the seventh and tallied an unearned run in the ninth to stun CU. Bergner had a pair of doubles with an RBI.
Stinger Notes:
- Bergner was 4-for-7 in the twinbill with a run scored and two RBI.
- Adaline Ziehmer racked up 20 put outs at first base in the first game.
- The defense turned one double play in each contest.
- It was CU's first win on campus since blanking Saginaw Valley State, 1-0, in the home opener on March 21.
- The Jackets lead the all-time series vs. Lake Erie, 14-2.
