ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland rallied with five unearned runs in the fifth inning for a 5-3 win over the Lady Jackets to gain a split of their G-MAC doubleheader.
The Lady Jackets recovered from a three-run deficit to take the opener, 9-5.
Mackenzie Russell hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning of the nightcap to break a scoreless duel.
In the fifth, the Eagles registered four of their five hits scoring all five runs after two were out.
Russell,
Kaley Clark, and
Carrie Jespersen recorded two hits each for Cedarville, 22-17 overall and 7-11 G-MAC.
Mariah Wallace hammered a grand slam to cap a six-run third inning of game one. She finished with two hits as did
Lexi Parsons and
McKenna Smith.
Sophia Hevel delivered a two-run single and
Faith Bergner scored twice. Winning pitcher
Casey Bertke, 13-8, struck out four.
Stinger Notes:
- Cedarville pitchers allowed just nine hits and three earned runs in the two games.
- The Jackets totaled 20 hits with five for extra bases.
- Ashland leads the all-time series, 5-2.
