NORTH CANTON, Ohio - Seven different players got base hits and
Casey Bertke fired another complete game as Cedarville knocked off Walsh, 5-2, in the opener of a G-MAC doubleheader.
The Cavaliers were 5-1 winners in the nightcap.
Bertke, 14-8, struck out seven while allowing two runs on three hits. It was her 17th complete game this spring.
Mackenzie Russell had two hits with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.
Kaley Clark added two hits, a run, and RBI with
McKenna Smith chipping in two hits, a run, and a stolen base.
In the second game, Walsh never trailed after scoring twice in the first inning.
Sophia Hevel singled in CU's lone tally in the fourth.
Hevel finished with two hits including a double. Smith and Clark contributed two hits apiece and Russell doubled for the Jackets, 23-18 overall and 8-12 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- Yellow Jacket pitchers surrendered just ten hits total on the day.
- Bertke and Smith combined for 13 strikeouts and two walks.
- Cedarville stranded 17 runners on base in the two games.
- Walsh leads the all-time series, 33-22.
- In order to qualify for the G-MAC Tournament, CU must sweep Malone and needs Ohio Dominican to take two from Tiffin.
