CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Megan McClish and
Olivia Hoffman scored the goals as Cedarville handed defending G-MAC champion and No. 24 Ashland a 2-1 setback.
It was the first loss for the Eagles in conference play since joining the league in 2021.
McClish headed in a corner from
Emily Walton in the fourth minute to get the hosts on the board early.
Hoffman made it 2-0 with a left-footed strike from the top of the box in the 31st minute with
Payton Fraley assisting.
Ashland was held at bay until pulling one back in the 87th minute during a scramble in the box.
Brooke Ackley was called upon to make one save for the Lady Jackets, 4-2-1 overall and 3-1 G-MAC.
Stinger Notes:
- McClish has two goals this season - both on headers off corners.
- Hoffman netted her second goal of the year and 18th of her career.
- The outcome ended the visitors' five-game winning streak.
- The Jackets had the edge in shots overall, 8-7, and on goal, 5-2.
- Ashland entered the contest with a 15-0-2 record in G-MAC regular season play.
- The Eagles handed CU three of its six losses last season.
- AU leads the all-time series, 3-2.
