Own goal lifts Cedarville over Arrows

HIGHLIGHTS

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Audrey Nelson played a part in both Cedarville goals as the Lady Jackets came away with a 2-1 result over Ursuline in the G-MAC opener for each team.

Nelson's cross went off an Arrow defender and into the net for the winner with just 1:15 left on the clock.

She earlier scored the first goal of the match in the 34th minute with assists from Megan McClish and Maddy Nelson.

Once the visitors tied it in the 58th, the two rivals battled on level terms until Nelson's fortuitous deflection.

Brooke Ackley made three saves for CU, 2-1-1 overall, while the defense added a team save.

Stinger Notes:
  • Two of the Jackets' five goals so far have been own goals (Lee).
  • Nelson's goal was her first this season and fourth of her career.
  • The hosts had a 18-8 shot advantage including 11-2 in the first half.
  • The shots on goal difference was 10-5 in favor of CU.
  • Cedarville leads the all-time series, 14-8-4.
  • The rematch is October 6 in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
