COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Lady Jackets built a big lead and then had to withstand a furious Ohio Dominican comeback for a 74-70 G-MAC victory.
Paige Garr pumped in 22 points for Cedarville, 5-9 overall and 3-5 G-MAC.
Lydia Sweeney totaled 14 points with six assists and
Makenna Fee added 11 points and four blocked shots.
The Jackets scored the last five points of the first half for a 41-32 lead and then erupted for the first 13 points of the second period.
The 18-point run resulted in a 54-32 bulge with seven minutes remaining in the frame.
However, the host Panthers cut the difference in half by the end of the quarter and closed to within 72-70 with 37 seconds to go.
A field goal and two free throws by Fee in the final eight seconds secured the victory.
Stinger Notes:
- The visitors never trailed and there was one tie score at 3-3.
- Garr made all six of her free throws and is 34-for-37 (.919) this season.
- The team has converted 27-of-31 (.871) charity tosses in the last two games.
- The Jackets controlled the boards with Fee and Anne Wheeler grabbing six each.
- Fee's four blocked shots is a career high.
- Sweeney scored in double figures for the seventh consecutive game.
- It was the 70th meeting between the two schools with Cedarville leading the all-time series, 40-30.
- The road team won both regular season games this year.
