CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Jayvon Maughmer's 22 points and career-high nine rebounds sparked the Yellow Jackets to a 72-65 victory over defending G-MAC champion Walsh at the Callan Athletic Center.
Grant Whisman added 19 points and
Chris Rogers flipped in 18 for Cedarville, 13-4 overall and 6-3 G-MAC.
Jacob Drees hauled in a game-high ten rebounds to help upend the Cavaliers' five-game winning streak.
After the two sides battled to a 33-33 deadlock through 20 minutes, the Jackets held the lead for all but 13 seconds of the second half.
It was 56-47 with 11:15 remaining and Walsh got as close as 67-65 with 1:08 to go.
Maughmer went 4-for-4 from the stripe down the stretch to help seal the outcome.
Stinger Notes:
- Rogers' 18 points are his most at CU; he extended his double figure scoring string to six contests (15.2 ppg).
- Drees has pulled down ten or more rebounds in six of the past seven games.
- The Cavaliers' four turnovers are the fewest by an opponent this season.
- The Jackets drilled 12 triples - the 13th time they've made at least ten in a game.
- Walsh leads the all-time series, 51-46, which began in the 1965-66 season.
- The two sides play again on February 23 in North Canton, Ohio.
