Fraley propels Jackets into NCAA second round

REGION INFO - NCAA BRACKET

ASHLAND, Ohio - Payton Fraley scored two goals including the game winner in the first overtime to lift No. 5 Cedarville past No. 4 Northwood, 3-2 in two OT's, in the first round of the Midwest Regional.

Megan McClish found Fraley unmarked at the top of the 18-yard box and she beat the Timberwolves keeper inside the left post in the 93rd minute to break a 2-2 deadlock.

The Lady Jackets, 16-4-1, advance to the second round for the second year in a row with an upcoming date on Saturday at Ashland University's Ferguson Field at 3:00 p.m. EST.

Cedarville battled from behind twice against the 2023 G-MAC champions.

Northwood tallied in the fifth minute before Audrey Nelson equalized in the 37th from Lisi Williamson and Tiffany Campbell.

After Northwood regained the lead in the 57th minute, Fraley drilled a 15-yard strike in the 69th to level the match again.

QUOTABLE - Head Coach Jonathan Meade
"What a hard fought match. I'm very proud of the team. To fight back twice to equalize and then win the game speaks to the heart of this team. We are excited to move forward and have another chance to compete again Saturday."
