CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Lydia Sweeney scored 25 points and fueled a second half surge that guided Cedarville to a 85-70 win over Ohio Dominican in the G-MAC opener for both schools.
The senior guard added eight rebounds, seven steals, and three assists for the Lady Jackets, 2-3 overall.
Nyla Hale poured in a career-high 19 points while
Kat Weakley chipped in 14 points and four assists.
Cedarville outscored the Panthers 54-33 in the second half thanks to shooting .630 from the field.
Trailing 37-31 at the intermission, Weakley's triple at the third quarter buzzer gave the hosts a 59-51 advantage.
A 14-4 explosion to begin the fourth period put the game out of reach.
STINGER NOTES:
- Cedarville enjoyed a 32-21 rebounding edge.
- ODU pulled out to as much as a nine point lead late in the first half.
- The Jackets, who led all NCAA divisions in free throw shooting last season, converted 23-of-27 (.852).
- CU established season bests for points, field goal percentage, free throw accuracy, rebound margin, assists, and steals.
- The Lady Jackets, who lead the all-time series 41-30, have played ODU more times than any other opponent.
- The rematch in Columbus is set for January 4.
