TOURNAMENT INFO  |  HIGHLIGHTS

LAKELAND, Fla. - Jayvon Maughmer poured in a career-high 31 points to lead Cedarville to a 75-70 win over Missouri-St. Louis in the season opener at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.

The senior guard from Chillicothe, Ohio also became the 60th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points.

Despite falling into a 9-2 hole to the defending Midwest Region champions, the Yellow Jackets recovered to shoot 50 percent in the first half to build a 40-27 lead.

The Tritons got as close as four points with six minutes left, but CU responded with an 11-2 spurt to regain command.

Chris Rogers netted 14 points and Grant Whisman chipped in 11. Jacob Drees pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets, who tied for second in Division II in three-point field goals made per game last year, drained 11 and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
