CEDARVILLE, Ohio -
Paige Garr scored 24 points and
Lydia Sweeney added 23 to spark Cedarville to a 81-73 G-MAC victory over Ursuline at the Callan Athletic Center.
The Lady Jackets, 7-14 overall and 5-10 G-MAC, halted a four-game losing streak with the outcome.
Kat Weakley netted 13 points,
Leah Butterbaugh had a career-high 12, and
Anne Wheeler chipped in nine as all of the scoring came from the starters.
The home team used a 15-2 run in the last five-plus minutes to pull out the win.
Trailing 71-66 with 5:35 remaining, a layup by Sweeney started a string of nine unanswered points by CU.
Wheeler completed a three-point play at the 2:41 mark to give the Jackets the lead for good, 73-71.
The junior guard went 5-for-5 from the free throw line coming down the stretch and Garr hit two more to seal the result.
Stinger Notes:
- Sweeney returned to the lineup with her sixth contest of 20+ points after missing Saturday's game at Tiffin with an injury.
- Garr registered her seventh 20-point game.
- Abby Freeman led the squad with a +25 plus/minus rating.
- Only four personal fouls total were whistled in the first half.
- The home team held the lead for 27-plus minutes.
- CU outscored the Arrows 23-6 off of turnovers.
- In the last nine games, Cedarville is 81-of-92 (.880) at the charity stripe.
- The Lady Jackets have taken over the G-MAC lead in free throw accuracy (.814).
- CU now ranks No. 2 nationally in Division II free throw percentage trailing Belmont Abbey (.820).
- It was the only meeting of the season vs. Ursuline and the Jackets are 27-5 in the all-time series.
