HIGHLIGHTS
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - G-MAC newcomer Northwood won a pair of low-scoring affairs at Cedarville as both schools began the 2023 conference schedule.
The Timberwolves swept the doubleheader 5-3 and 2-0.
In the first game, the visitors took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth when the Yellow Jackets made it interesting.
Alan Perry ripped a one-out triple to right field and was followed by back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles by
Blais Hale,
Lucas Rotello, and
Daniel Sewak.
That made it 5-3 and CU had the tying run at the plate, but a flyout and strikeout stopped the comeback.
Perry and Rotello had two hits each. Starting pitcher
Tanner Gillis fanned seven batters in six innings.
Cedarville, 3-14 overall, had just three hits in the seven-inning nightcap - singles from Perry,
Seth Hale, and
Micah Stewart.
Wyatt Fisher went the distance on the mound and totaled a career-high ten strikeouts.
