ASHLAND, Ohio - WBCA Division II No. 2 Ashland pulled away in the second half to defeat Cedarville, 88-58, in a G-MAC contest inside Kates Gymnasium.
Lydia Sweeney tossed in 23 points and
KaCee Kyle added 14 for the Lady Jackets, 5-10 overall and 3-5 G-MAC.
CU hung with the defending NCAA Division II national champions for better than half the game.
The visitors held a 32-26 advantage midway through the second quarter before the Eagles finished the frame on a 18-4 flurry.
It was a 63-50 difference through three quarters and AU put the outcome on ice with a big final period.
STINGER NOTES:
- Sweeney is averaging 26.5 ppg with a .549 field goal percentage in the last four games.
- Kyle grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
- Nyla Hale came away with a game-high three steals.
- Ashland tied its school record with 18 three-point field goals.
