NASHVILLE, Tenn. - G-MAC leader Cedarville dropped its second straight close outcome in a 89-86 reversal at Trevecca inside the Trojan Fieldhouse.
Jayvon Maughmer racked up a career-high 35 points for the Yellow Jackets, 16-7 overall and 10-3 G-MAC.
Ethan Sellars netted 11 points while
Jacob Drees grabbed ten rebounds with seven assists.
The Trojans enjoyed a 71-57 lead midway through the second half when the visitors began their comeback.
Maughmer's sixth three-pointer of the game got CU to within 87-86 with nine seconds to go.
TNU hit a pair of free throws a second later and the Jackets were unable to get off a potential game-tying triple.
STINGER NOTES:
- Both teams made 13 three-point field goals and totaled 31 rebounds apiece.
- Chris Rogers, who played three seasons at TNU while earning his bachelors degree, dished out five assists.
- The Trojans' .561 field goal percentage was the second-highest by an opponent this season (Findlay; .582).
- Maughmer has three 30-point games this winter and 40 consecutive games of scoring in double figures.
- Drees, who leads the league in rebounding, extended his double figure streak to 11 straight games.
- Trevecca is 7-0 at home in the G-MAC and 2-4 on the road.
- Cedarville holds an 18-9 lead in the all-time series.
